We have a series of weekly rituals including team meetings, critiques, warm ups, and cooldowns. All of these are designed to promote team growth and collaboration, lift each other up, and improve the quality of our projects.
You can read much more about them here.
Or if you prefer to watch a video, we've spoken about it here.
Finally, you can also check out some team members sharing more tips here.
Each project has a Design Lead, a Product Manager, and a Technical Lead, whom all work very closely together to ensure high quality product launches.
You can see a bit more about the relationship between PMs and Designers here.
As a company centered around helping make design more accessible, we see it as a big part of our responsibility to help others in the company (and outside) understand it better.
One of just many things we do is onboard every single new employee with a variant of this presentation about Design 101 — we also invite all employees to join as guests to our design critiques.
We LOVE design critiques. So much so that we wrote a big article about how we do them here.
We're still experimenting with more methods for mentoring designers, and this year was the first year we hired 3 new grads.
Every year we also hire interns, and we're always iterating on how to best encourage healthy forms of mentorship and feedback. Our latest interest is to evolve a concept called "Co-pilots", or design pairings to help not feel so alone in a given project.
We mostly use Figma (surprise!), Slack, Zoom, Dropbox Paper, and sometimes Notion and Coda
